- the world I live in is not so bad (nothing too horrible would happen to me);
- things happen for a reason (I'm not a bad person, nothing too horrible would happen to me);
- I'm worth something.
Questioning these beliefs is a major source of anxiety; but beliefs will be shaken by life, whether you like it or not (and you might want to go through that in the more controlled environment of Dharma practice rather than as the victim of some event).
