Once one believes one knows how to face a particular situation, (s)he's very unlikely to be willing and test if another response might be better: such a test is simply doomed to confirm that a worse response is worse, right?
When locked in such a mindset, how can one discover that the belief of knowing, of being right, was misguided? How does one learn, when one's convinced (s)he already knows what needs to be known?
